Made Pastika; Bali Police Chief, Governor, Dog

This is the face of Made Mangku Pastika, the former police chief of Bali and PDI party contender for the position of Balinese Governor; Gods help us. The western and Indonesian media try to make Pastika out to be a hero of the Balinese people; he is not, he is a dirty low-life Indonesian dog. His only claim to fame is he was the police chief of Bali when the Australian, US and British police went about capturing the Javanese scum that detonated bombs in Bali in 2002. But look at the facts about Pastika; he is no hero and he is not Balinese any more.

Before his role as top cop in Bali, Pastika was the police of chief in Irian Jaya; West Papua as many westerners call it. Under his watch two aid workers were murdered under highly questionable circumstances which implicate the Indonesian military (TNI) and Made Pastika himself of murder and cover-up. You can read the facts, rather than what Jakarta and now Washington would have you believe here: Made Pastika West Papua. Basically two western school teachers were murdered almost certainly by the Indonesian military or their agents as a lesson to the Freeport Mining Company for reducing the amount they paid the TNI for "protection"; a revenge act to show they needed protection. You see, Freeport had to reduce their corruption bungs to the TNI in the wake of the US Enron scandal where major corporations in America came under intense scrutiny for undeclared substantial payments. The FBI at one point wanted to interview Made Pastika over these murders, but he declined. It is a well know fact published by the likes of Human Rights Watch (Indonesia) that the chiefs of police for West Papua are the most corrupt, most human right abusing dogs in Indonesia; Pastika is, let me assure you, no exception.

Pastika came to Bali in the aftermath of the 2002 terrorist bombings and just sat on his fat uneducated Indonesian behind because Jakarta had instructed him to allow foreign police to track down the bombers. This actually suited Pastika very well as it gave him more time for corruption and at the same time secured him undeserved fame. Corruption went up dramatically in Bali under Pastika and several high profile narcotics cases such as Corby and Leslie raised serious doubts about his ability and ethics with even the most stupid of people. During his time as police chief he authorized both illegal unofficial investigations in league with the local "mafia" and even signed an Interpol watch order against an innocent man, which reported information on his whereabouts overseas and which was passed to armed thugs to have him killed; fact (see Jack Daniels Bali). Pastika did nothing to ingratiate himself with the Balinese as he took an order to ban gambling to extremes and stopped traditional cock fights, the joy of many working Balinese men when he need not have. People close to him report he gloated about ruining the leisure activities of the everyday Balinese man and thus confirmed himself as an enemy of Bali, a former Balinese, a nasty Indonesian street dog. Made Pastika was also incredibly inept, proven by the fact that even after a presidential warning of an impending terrorist attack in Bali in 2005, Pastika did not tighten security as he should and more people lost their lives; this is a fact, the President himself declared that security had not been tightened enough by Bali's police after the bombings.

Implicated in unlawful police drugs "business" several times, against a backcloth of where narcotics and brothels in Indonesia are known to be controlled by the police (see: Indonesian Narcotics and Indonesian Brothels), Made Pastika did nothing about child sex workers or endemic street narcotics in Bali while he was police chief, why? Of course, in true Indonesian fashion, despite the fact Pasika did nothing about drugs himself and was even implicated in unlawful police drugs business, incredibly he was promoted to head Indonesia's Narcotics Police Unit, which is like appointing Kim Jong-il as the UN General Secretary; but the media machine loved it. Naturally, once out of Bali, I Made Mangku Pastika did another typically Indonesian thing; he opened his big fat mouth and blurted that Bali needed to clean up its act regarding narcotics and child prostitution.

A brief moment of hope came when Pastika was reported to have heart problems; thousands of Balinese prayed for him to die. Unfortunately Made Pastika seems to have recovered and now has been chosen as the PDI (an idiot TNI friendly political party lead by old crow and daughter of Sukarno, Diah Permata Megawati Setiawati Soekarnoputri) as candidate for Governor of Bali. Perfect, a man who has done nothing except evil and even murderous deeds and who is hated by so many Balinese is likely to become head of state for Bali. How the US, Jakarta and TNI must be happy. Make no bones about it, if they can find a cell with an entrance large enough for his big head, Made Pastika should be in jail, not in office.

Thank you for being one of the few people to publish the truth about Made Pastika. I am a friend of the family of Rick Spier, one of the aid agency teachers murdered at "Mile 63" in West Papua in 2002. It is a "joke" what Made Pastika did or rather did not do. It is clear the Indonesian military were involved as the gunfire during the incident went on for 45 minutes and at a point within close proximity to two military bases. The weapons used came from the Indonesian military but it is alleged the man, Antonius Wamang (who was blamed for the murder) who used them to kill Rick Spier and Ted Burgon was a separatist. Yet the court concluded that Antonius Wamang was able to buy weapons as a separatist from the Indonesian Military in Java and that also he did business with the military yet was somehow a wanted man / guerilla freedom fighter. When the Jakarta Court jailed Antonius Wamang the USA called off its arms embargo immediately, despite the evidence this was a total whitewash. Antonius Wamang is meant to be in jail but no-one has ever seen him there! This is typical of Indonesian fake justice I understand with similar cases including Tommy Suharto who is said to had a private street entrance (and exit) to his luxury jail cell, which makes most luxury hotel suites look like gardening sheds. Made Pastika is said to have been more directly involved in this and other murders, a well known police action in West Papua. Please, if the Balinese feel Made Pastika should be their governor, please do not go to Bali.

Wayan, I think for you to joke about what you must know goes on is appalling. My friend and I went on holiday to Bali 3 years ago and had ecstasy planted on us by policemen; they came up to us in the street and demanded to search our bags and clearly had something in their hands when they did this and then claimed the packet came from our bags. We were taken not to the police station but to a dingy private house where we were told to think about what would happen to us unless we co-operated with them and made them their friends. We were told we should go to separate rooms and to undress and wait in the beds. We argued and pleaded with them but they just grinned and told us the sentence for drugs possession in Bali was 10 years and that the jails here were not very nice; they explained exactly why. After about 2 hours we agreed to do what they said. As we went into the rooms crying we heard one of the police officers make a phone call to someone called Pack Mangkoo. About an hour later we heard a car pull up outside and two men clearly getting out and talking to the police officers who brought us there. Then a man came into my room dressed in uniform, it was the police chief Pastika. He told me I was to be obedient and do what he asked of me and I would then be released free, but if I did not I would go to jail for charging. He then raped me. He made me perform oral sex on him with his gun to my head. He then had normal sex with me for a short time and then he soddomized me for a much longer time. After he finished and left one of the other arresting officers came in and raped me. The same thing happened to my friend with another senior police officer and the other arresting officer. We were then pushed out the small compound of this house in Denpasar and walked until we saw a taxi to flag down. We both left the next day on the earliest available flight and will never go back to Indonesia, ever. I was lucky; I did not contract any diseases and did not get pregnant. My friend did get pregnant and had to have an abortion. She also contracted a STD. You should not joke about what Pastika does with his penis; you should be honest and report the facts to the world.

I am not surprised to hear this. Just do a search for "Indonesian police rape" and see what comes up; tons of it and mostly in West Papua. Pastika had to be involved.

Rape in Bali is more of a problem than people realize due to the culture of keeping quiet and intimidation. There is plenty of evidence out thee though if you look for it, e.g. http://www.baliadvertiser.biz/articles/paradise/2005/rape_1.html and
http://forum.channelnewsasia.com/viewtopic.php?p=1112582&sid=2e1ca6b9dce537b1b4ba57bbda8f6707

But if you really want to see the real story do a search not for indonesia police rpae but just "indonesia rape" on Google. It is shown that the Indonesian authorites condone and actually have their officers commit rape as a weapon. If you do not believe me, go look.
